GuideWell Innovation enters into multi-year agreement with Edison Nation Medical

New agreement will accelerate commercialization of next-generation health solutions

ORLANDO, Fla. GuideWell Innovation announced today a multi-year agreement with Edison Nation Medical to support rapid design and prototype development to bring ideas to market within the soon-to-open GuideWell UST Global Innovation Center facility in Orlando’s Lake Nona Medical City.

Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., Edison Nation Medical is a leading marketplace for health care and medical device innovation. The company works with individuals, early stage startups and institutions to identify healthcare innovations that can improve patient care worldwide. Its marketplace matches inventors, entrepreneurs, hospitals and universities with manufacturing and healthcare partners to develop and commercialize new inventions.

The GuideWell UST Global Innovation Center facility will be anchored by the GuideWell Innovation CoRETM (Collaborative Resource Ecosystem). The CoRE is designed to foster and accelerate health innovation. Entrepreneurs, research and development experts and health care leaders will come together and collaborate at the CoRE to create and commercialize next-generation solutions to support transformation of the health system.

Edison Nation Medical will provide industrial engineering support to advance rapid design and prototype development for members of GuideWell Innovation CoRE. Specifically, they will locate an Innovation Development Director within the CoRE providing deep engineering expertise to inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs working within the CoRE’s Start-Up Garage, a purpose-built space to brainstorm, design and prototype solutions using advanced technologies including 3D scanning and printing.

“Edison Nation Medical has built an amazing reputation as a creative force in bringing new ideas to the marketplace with an array of successful products in use today,” said Renee Finley, head of GuideWell Innovation. “Alongside their technical capabilities they have enormous experience in intellectual property management and innovation consulting. In many ways they are the perfect fit for GuideWell Innovation, which will bring a steady flow of innovators working on next-generation health solutions.”

"GuideWell's dedication to rapidly accelerating health innovations that help people and communities achieve better health is perfectly aligned with Edison Nation Medical's own mission," said Louis Foreman, CEO of Edison Nation Medical. "As such, we are thrilled to support GuideWell Innovation in discovering the undiscovered and to assist the organization and its members in advancing and commercializing next-generation solutions that will radically transform patient care."

GuideWell Innovation CoRE, located at the GuideWell UST Global Innovation Center facility, will officially open its doors on March 15, 2016.
